"That ye may be mindful of the words…"

Morning Moon Gives Way to Daylight

My last few nights have been slept with racing searching dreams trying to process the inconsistencies of our upside down world. I’ve been watching the GOP debates, they just past eighteen of them last evening in Florida on CNN. I have a wonderful son who is turning eighteen himself this weekend and it is for him and his sisters that I have been watching these grueling word duels.

My son in his youthful enthusiasm has embraced Ron Paul as his first candidate to vote for president. You see he has been well taught by his own self directed study of our Constitution that Dr. Paul is the only one running who believes that our nation was based upon the premise that “in order to form a more perfect nation”, and that the document applies to us today.

On every candidate their words and records in written, spoken, and video form are abundantly available from the Internet today. Although as we’ve witnessed in the debates all of them are trying to explain them in less than satisfying explanations. Only Dr. Paul has fully answered without sidestepping his record. My son has thouroughly researched his record .

I’m quite ashamed and sad for my son to be finding out how unwilling the grown men around him other than his dad  have shown themselves to be to study the candidates for themselves. He has had many occasions to cause them to be taken aback with his understanding of current events as well as the history of our republic. Of course the men have given the excuses of not being full time students and too busy making a living, but this young man sees what they do in their spare time and how they seem unable to speak other than in sporting terms. They seem locked up and to believe that politics are too dangerous to discuss for fear of disagreement among friends and family and church members. Keep the peace by all means is what they convey, but I suspect it is their ignorance that they guard instead.

It is odd and funny to see how unable the men are to inform him and how wide they open their eyes at  his command of the statistics of governmental business when these men in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s show an embarrassing lack of knowledge of the needs, problems, issues, and proposed legislation and policies.

The threat to censor what is surely our information highway is all too real with the international copyright ACTA agreement which our president is threatening to declare an “executive directive” and not what the rest of the signers are calling it properly, a TREATY which would have to be ratified by our Senate, and the US House of Representatives SOPA bill, and Senate PIPA bill, and other reformulations of like bills hovering overhead.

I’m a woman, wife, mother, and grandmother not powerful and not strong and not able to do more than love them according to my feeble efforts to follow God our Saviour’s pattern for women. But His arm is strong and able and will deliver all who believe that Jesus Christ is our propitiation for our sins and enables us to strengthen us through the Holy Spirit and the Word for the battle which He has already won.  I know my son and daughters and grandchildren are safe under His protection.  I want to be “mindful of the words….”

2 Peter 3

1This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

17Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Victory in Jesus!

  1. Powerful~powerful~powerful post!Yes, in the last days there will be scoffers and they are willingly ignorant. I love how your son has an example set so well. It is the same for my family. We have been duped by our political system for a while, thanks to calling the Constitution a living document.May we awaken today!Jennifer

  2. It gives me more confidence to hear your same experience. I know there are many like minded folks sprinkled through out the country. With Jesus' help we anticipate the awakening of many others.
