Thoughts on Ezekiel 14

Ezekiel 14:

12 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,

13 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

Thoughts on reading today;

God (Is the great I AM) All Knowing, Alpha and Omega

man (chooses to follow because of the grace and favour given to him) needs to know, undergoes shaping & perfecting

Noah, Daniel, and Job each chose to follow God in opposition to the flow of their cultures, authorities, and or personal estates.

They had no knowledge of what their decisions would bring upon themselves, underwent growth in spirit and knowledge of God through their experiences. These men’s lives sum up the pressures we all face. God chose them and gave his grace and favour. Each man was then able to follow God instead of going the easy natural man way. God does his perfecting work and man comes to knowledge of God in the process.

Genesis 6: But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.…………………22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Daniel 1: 8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

Job 1: And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?…………………….Chapter 42: 5  I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. 6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

God knows, but man learns;

God is Creator, man is created;

God is perfect, man who is chosen is being perfected out of the grace and favour of God.

God deals with us individually. A wise pastor said, “God has no grandchildren, only sons and daughters.”

God always provides a remnant and with this we see His benevolence and perfecting grace and favour.

Ezekiel 14: 22  Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.
